My name is Jessica and my husband Joe and I have been on our fertility journey for almost 2 years. Within this time, we have discovered that I have PCOS. This has been a hard road for us, as we have been on many medications and been through many treatments, all to no avail.

In November 2023 we found out we were expecting. A few weeks later we discovered the baby was ectopic and had settled in my right fallopian tube. At 8 weeks 5 days, I had surgery to remove the baby as well as the fallopian tube.

This now means that on top of trying to get my body to ovulate on it’s own, we have to hope it is left-sided ovulation. We recently found out that our insurance (we have the same) specifically excludes infertility coverage. The medication to trigger left-sided ovulation alone is anywhere from $3,000-$5,000 per cycle.

We are working with one of the best MFM specialists in the country, and it is her opinion (as well as ours) that we move right into IVF, as my already low chances of getting pregnant naturally have now decreased by more than 50%. Having one ectopic pregnancy also increases my chances of having another.

We want so badly to be parents, and never would’ve thought this would be such a long and painful journey.
